EC workshop on safety of nanomaterials: proceedings now available

The EC has recently published the proceedings of the workshop it held in April 2008 on the safety of nanomaterials. The aim of the event was to bring together key players in order to review the knowledge gaps and debate the future steps necessary in the area of nanosafety research. A series of presentations were given during the two days by leading academics and the discussions throughout the conference have been captured by Dr. Jürgen Höck of TEMAS AG, in the recently published report. The report itself highlights the main points of each presentation and subsequent discussion that took place.

The event was seen as a way of bringing together all of the main participants from EU-funded FP6 and FP7 projects in order to disseminate findings and debate future developments. A section at the end of the report also presents the results of research into this topic from several Member States (such as the UK and Germany) and other countries (including Mexico and Russia).
